MASSAGE

I get so much joy and satisfaction when I see the face of a client transformed into a relaxed, happy state after she has received one of my massages. What a difference one hour of quality time can make in someone's life!

If you've never experienced a massage before, now is the time to do it! Imagine feeling so relaxed that the rest of the world falls away. Soothing music is playing, the inviting scent of aromatherapy surrounds you, and someone is gently but thoroughly coaxing your muscles to let go, relax.

You close your eyes, and perhaps imagine that you're on vacation at a luxurious resort and have nothing to do but receive a massage. No cell phones, no computers, no demands on you. Sounds nice? You can create this for yourself without having to go to an expensive resort. It's here in Houston – and as easy as sending an email to schedule.

When was the last time you just received tenderness and caring, without having to give back? How important do you think this might be for your psyche?

If you've had a massage before, you know how important it is to receive healing touch. As humans, we thrive on touch, especially when it comes to us from someone who is aware, sensitive and skillful. I have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 1987 and have performed well over 10,000 massages. However, I lost count about 10 years ago, so that total is much higher!

When you receive your massage, you can trust that I will be focused on your needs – and have plenty of energy to spare. I limit the number of massages I perform each day to two, to keep healthy and injury-free. I schedule them so that I have at least an hour between when one massage ends and another begins. So no one is rushed. You can just deeply relax and soak up all of the attention.

We all live in a stressful world. We carry tension in our bodies, hearts and minds. Over time, this tension eats away at us. Shoulders and necks get tight. Low backs begin to hurt. Arms and wrists ache from working at a computer too much. Feet hurt from standing. Legs get tight from too much sitting.

THE IMPORTANCE OF
MODERATION

Tao Te Ching, verse 59

To serve humanity,
there is nothing more important
than to be moderate.

To be moderate
is to return to the female yin principle.

To return to the yin
is to become nurturing.

To be nurturing
is to acquire enormous capacity.

To have enormous capacity
is to be ready for the Great Integrity.

To be ready for the Great Integrity
is to be ready to serve humanity.

In this way we will become
firmly planted in the Great Integrity,
the pathway to a clear vision
and a long life.

As a result, we snap. We strike out at others. Or we withdraw and try to soothe ourselves perhaps with food and TV. We get caught up in the fight or flight response. Our bodies then produce stress hormones, and our blood pressure and heart rate go up. This cycle continues, day after day, until real muscular PAIN or perhaps a feeling of intense anxiety catches our attention. Then we contact a massage therapist and beg for an appointment!

Instead of waiting until the last minute, what would it look like if you practiced good self-care and scheduled a massage on a regular basis? That's what I do. I put it on my calendar and look forward to that day. If I didn't do this for myself, I wouldn't enjoy the quality of life that I do now. Whether you choose get a massage every week, once a month or once a year, make a commitment to yourself and enjoy the results!

The benefits of massage are on every level – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually:
• Faster recovery from muscular aches and pains
• Triggering the Relaxation Response
• Feeling nurtured and rejuvenated
• Improved circulation of blood and lymph

It's like wiping the slate clean and starting all over. You come out of a massage feeling like yourself again. During a massage, you get reconnected to the life force within you. This can significantly uplift you when life's stresses try to bring you down. It's all there within you, waiting for a skilled massage therapist to bring it out!

I'd like to be your massage therapist in Houston. I can tailor your massage to fit your needs, whether you need deep or light pressure, silence or processing time to talk, and scent-free massage or aromatherapy massage. Take a look at my Menu of Services and maybe try something new! Together, we can develop a trusting, healing partnership that will support your health and well-being.

So send me an email, tell me about the issues you want to address and your preferences, and I'll get back with you as soon as I can. I look forward to working with you and seeing your smiling face after your massage!

Kindness is the greatest way to display your gratitude.
And the message of a smile is — I am grateful.

Raindrop Technique (60 min) - $80
A sequence of highly antimicrobial essential oils to kill viral agents and reduce inflammation. The oils are applied like little drops of rain about six inches above the spine and lightly stroked into the back and feet. The oils penetrate the skin quickly and pass into bodily tissues and nerves. This process will continue to work in the body for up to one week following treatment, and may last up to five months. Raindrop Technique may be customized to address other health issues not directly related to back problems.

Brain Balance Massage (60 min) - $70
The massage begins on the head, neck and face. Then stereo headphones are worn as a special brain balancing CD is played as the massage continues. The client hears soothing water and rain sounds, along with Tibetan bowls, and becomes deeply relaxed. Hidden in the sounds are sine waves, at slightly different frequencies in each ear, which stimulate the brain to create a silent third rhythm. The result is the most profound relaxation in a massage as the brain goes from alpha, theta to delta.

Acu-Massage Table (15 min) - $10
The roller table works deeply along the back of the body to relieve stiffness and pain. A pair of massage rollers simulate kneading and finger pressure by moving together up and down. You may choose either an automatic program for whole body, upper body or lower body or control the rollers manually in order to focus on specific areas of tension.

Thumper Massage (15 min) - $15
This massager uses deep, percussive, pulsed acu-pressure to relieve muscle tension. Massage spheres pivot up and down ¼ inch into your feet, 26 times per second, delivering a thorough and effective massage. While on the massage therapy table, Thumper can also achieve deep release in the back, glutes, back of the legs and front of the thighs.
